Last week I announced I would begin writing about the bloggers I follow. The series is called Blogs to Bookmark and there is now a Category dedicated to blog reviews. I will be sharing talented writers who will inspire you, move you, make you laugh, help you, make you think, or maybe even anger you (hope not to do that too often). Please leave me feedback if there is a blogger you think I should be reading or your thoughts on the new series.
For the first Blog to Bookmark, I would like to introduce you to Michelle from Papoe. She is a wife and mom to two young children. Jocelyn is 2 and Aja is almost one. Papoe first came on the blogging scene in February 2010. Michelle is a talented, funny writer. I enjoy the mornings I visit Papoe because I know I will laugh or shake my head in agreement to Michelle’s take on life.
From Michelle’s own words:
“Welcome to my blog, or the place for me to talk about my life, my children, and rant about the reasons that I could be doing something more productive with my time. I always think back at the end of the day on what I had intended to accomplish and wonder where I went wrong. Right now I blame it on the babies. There are two, and they are young and helpless, as babies often are, and they have each mastered the art of the gut-wrenching shriek for attention. Mind you, I love them more than life itself. So I only complain when it’s before dinner and I’m lacking coffee, or after dinner and I’m lacking wine.”
It is such a great opening to her blog and explains clearly what to expect. And I promise you she delivers.
Michelle’s first post is called You’re as Pretty as Steak, which her husband said to her lovingly the week before she launched Papoe. I love this guy.
A Letter to my Girls on this Special Day was the first post I read by Michelle and the moment I bonded with this funny lady.
“Dear Aja & Jocelyn,
If there is one thing that I’ve learned from the Internet it’s that good mothers write letters to their babies. So dear daughters, this is the first proof you have that I am lacking. I have not written a letter to you for every month that you were in my womb, nor have I spent time putting pen to paper in your honor after you escaped. I was too busy trying to keep you alive. Trolling the carpet for choking hazards is one of my favorite past times.”
It is a laugh-out-loud letter to her girls. Please read the entire letter. You can thank me later.
Michelle is a versatile writer , adding thoughtful advice posts to her blog. Are you a Happy Parent is a must-read post for anyone considering parenthood. My favorite advice: don’t be an asshole.
There are also cute posts like Summer Wishes that will make you smile. It’s not just the writing; check out the adorable photo.
As a huge baseball fan, I was excited to read the sport was worked into her wedding day. It was Michelle’s idea. I love this woman. Read Celebaration to learn about her wedding and her love of the A’s.
After you have read Papoe and fallen in love with Michelle and her family, please stop back here to leave a comment.
What do you think about the Blogs to Bookmark series?

I just saw your tweet and started laughing when I saw your twittter name. Just to be sure I understood what you meant, I clicked through to see your blog. Sure enough, Naked Girl! Lol! Funny Girl meets Naked Girl in blogosphere.
I’m delighted to visit your blog. I love this new idea – it fits in perfectly with the goals of #31DBBB. I’m going to do something similar with single blog posts.
After I get a sense of the kinds of blogs your readers like, I will send some suggestions I find in my blog treasure hunts.

What a great idea for a series! I kind of did something similar yesterday in passing on some awards, but this is more comprehensive. I’ll be stopping by often to see who you review!
Great! I hope to help promote bloggers I love. Please do come back. My goal is to do this once a week.
What a fabulous idea. I just read another blogger’s similar post in which she interviewed another blogger. Such great networking tactics!

Is that her in the picture? Surely it isn’t fair that she should look like a movie star after having two kids? I am SO jealous! Oh, and it is also a fantabulous blog (grin) and this is a lovely idea. It is so nice to see people encourage other bloggers.

Tamsin~ Yes, that is Michelle and her husband. I am glad you enjoyed the first highlighted blog in this series and so happy to hear you visited Papoe.
I have written a post, introducing a similar series on my own blog, which will be published Monday here: http://www.bethszimmerman.com/2010/08/09/coming-soon-to-a-blog-near-you . I couldn’t think of a better name than Blogs to Bookmark so I stuck with it but I did give you credit for the idea and include a link to your blog. Thanks for the inspiration!
