Thanks Santa

Santa ClausIt’s official.

With only 22 days until Santa arrives, we are in full swing for the Christmas season. If you are like my family, the count for this holiday starts 364 days in advance. The excitement isn’t just about Christmas morning and presents though; it’s about the return of the Christmas season. Picking a tree, decorating, baking, choosing or making creative gifts, gathering with friends, and celebrating Princess Daisy’s birthday are a few examples of what we look forward to each Christmas season.

This year, though, is more special than any in recent memory; we have wonderful new additions to our family. Sean brings so much joy, fun, and happiness to our lives, but he also brings three great kids and a special young woman (his oldest son’s girlfriend). All these extra special people also mean more occasions to enjoy the Christmas season.

Last week we decorated my house with Princess Daisy and Monkey. This past Saturday was our turn to prep Sean’s house. Two of his kids, Sean, and I had fun picking a tree, making a great meal, finding gingerbread house kits, watching a Christmas movie, and decorating.

With the additional opportunities to enjoy the spirit of Christmas, more people bringing joy into my life, and the love of an amazing man, it feels like Santa came early this year. I can’t imagine anything better under the tree than what I have in my life right now.

Thanks, Santa, for the early presents.

Do you have any early presents you are grateful for this year?

If so, please share below!

  1. I’m a scrooge about the holidays, but I am grateful, like you, to have a new, wonderful person in my life this year. My girlfriend, Kellie, and her family are welcome additions and her enjoyment of baking cookies and decorating may offset my bah humbug enough to make our home festive this year ;)

Sean is over the top about Christmas. He loves the season, which helps get me more excited as a result. When I was grumbling about all the extra decorations I was buying for my house he kept asking me to say, “Ba humbug.” It snapped me out of it. I am always so busy, and feel stressed with the added activities. Having a great partner makes it easier and more enjoyable.

I have to laugh at your girlfriend’s name. I had no idea! So you and my Sean are both dating a Kelly.

  2. How awesome! I love the decorating and cooking part of the holiday season. I hate the cold, but something about winter and Christmas, it just goes together. Exciting for a bit of cold to hit, soon maybe.. Shall see!

It’s almost 70 degrees in DC today, which is not normal. It’s definitely not feeling like the Christmas season outside! Enjoy this wonderful time of year, MB.

  3. Awwww, Kelly! I am so very happy to hear that you are giving thanks and counting your blessings for all the wonderful news. You are in a great place and I’m glad that your heart is full of the Christmas spirit this year :) Hope you are enjoying and reveling in every moment of the season. XOXO

It feels great to be this happy, Charlotte. Thanks for the warm holiday wishes.

  4. I’ve got heat in my house. Thank ye gods.

(This will only mean anything to you if you’ve ever been homeless. Or cold.)

It’s important to remember having basic needs is something to be grateful for, not overlooked. Thank you for this comment.

  5. Your Christmas season sounds wonderful and filled with joy!

I’m still struggling to find my Christmas spirit. :-( It’s so warm and sunny here this year, the nest is empty…none of it feels like Christmas. I bought a couple of gifts and a cute red dress for the company party, and still…no spirit.

    Maybe it will snow.

Oh, I hope you capture the holiday spirit soon! Maybe the red dress will help.
