Give Yourself the Gift of Happiness with Gaiam TV

“The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.”

~Ben Franklin

This quote was the opening for a documentary entitled Happy that I recently watched, and it was the premise of the film. It was a fascinating look at what is the most sought after emotion. Some of the happiest people interviewed had no money, but felt they were rich. Great adversity led to a happier state of mind for one person. Top researchers were interviewed about intentional behavior, flow (being in the zone), and happiness being a choice. Additionally, profiles of countries where people are happiest and most unhappy were reported. Happy resonated for me considering happiness is one of the three tenants of this blog.

With 2012 coming to a close soon and inspired by the documentary Happy, I thought it would be a good idea to set some happiness resolutions for the new year. Here are five things that make me happy and bring me great joy, and I am committed to doing more in 2013:

  1. Reading
  2. Training for races
  3. Cooking
  4. Photography
  5. Entrepreneurial projects (2 specifically)

Tell me: how will you catch happiness in 2013?
