Recently Named One of Top Ten Blogs in the World

Inspiring blogOne of the best feelings is when someone publicly recognizes my greatness. It’s even better when I am touted as being fabulous and on a short list with writers from such esteemed blogs as The Bloggess and The Manwife Chronicles. Last week, for example, CV from Cubicle Views, awarded me the Very Inspiring Blogger Award along with these other awesome bloggers. And, with over 200 million blogs in existence, it’s impressive to be singled out by CV as one of nine great blogs. I believe this means I am one of the top ten blogs in the world since CV chose to name me over the other 199,999,990 blogs in existence. Recognizing my greatness at this level even astounds me!

Besides being publicly recognized for my incredible talent and it becoming known how well respected I am by my peers, I was excited for the opportunity  to follow the few rules laid out; I am to share at least seven things about me, and then to pay it forward by awarding at least seven other bloggers with this distinguished honor.

After writing in detail for years about everything from my ET-shaped toes to my dating mishaps, there isn’t much I feel I could share that is new. Instead, I am posing an assortment of questions to myself to answer.

8 Random Facts about Me:

What would I find in your refrigerator right now?

Jambalaya, 2 bottles of wine, more butter than we need, Diet Coke, homemade chicken stock, and lots of fruits and veggies.

What was the last movie you went to see?

Django Unchained

If you could be any character in fiction (film or novel), whom would you be?

Right now it would be Dowager Countess of Grantham.

If someone wrote a biography about you, what should the title be?

Naked Girl in a Dress

If you won $20 million in the lottery, what would you do with the money?

Visit a different foreign country each year, buy a vacation home, give to two charities I like to support, build up a fabulous wine cellar, buy season tickets to Nats, make sure our five kids can comfortably attend college with no debt, and remodel the master bathroom. I would still work, doing exactly what I am doing today, but I would probably take more time off each year.

If you could be a superhero, what would you want your superpowers to be?

To freeze time whenever I wanted (so I could catch up on everything when behind).

What is the last book you read?

A Discovery of Witches

If you could trade places with any other person for a week, famous or not famous, living or dead, real or fictional. with whom would it be?

I would like to trade places for a week with a few different people, especially writers I admire, so this is tough. I will say my answer at this moment is Bryce Harper. I would love to know what it feels like to play pro ball.

As for seven people I will pass this award along to, here’s my list (in no particular order):

  1. Rubber Chicken Madness for striving to be her best, having a great understanding of priorities, and tirelessly seeking out balance.
  2. Avitable for making me laugh each time I visit, and creating the best series ever: Dead Celebrity Interviews. When someone famous dies, his site is the first place you should visit.
  3. The Bloggess for being able to be outrageously funny, but also address serious topics. Her range of writing, big heart, and huge following is inspiring.
  4. Live Love Work is my go-to place for inspiration and balance.
  5. Sex, Lies, and Bacon for fearlessly redefining herself, and loving herself more in the process.
  6. Fancy Feet for being filled with beautiful writing and inspiration.
  7. ProBlogger is the most inspiring and educational source I have found for writing and working in this medium. Disclaimer: this has nothing to do with the shrine I have built in my house for Darren.

After you have left the proper accolades here, and requested my address to send me gifts, please go visit these seven sites and let them know the Naked Girl sent you.

One more thing before you leave to visit these great writers: comment below with the answer to one of the questions I answered above.

  1. Thanks for the accolades!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

Thanks for sharing your great writing!

  2. Congratulations! It’s always nice to be recognized. I think the last movie I saw was Zero Dark 30. It was great!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

I saw that movie as well, Jen. I loved it.

  3. Love your answers (and the bloggers you mentioned here. Will be sure to check them out!).

Hmmm… What would I do with $20M? Take a vacation around the world with friends and family. Open up an animal sanctuary in upstate NY (so as not to be too far from friends/family). Continue writing, but incorporate travel adventures into my daily musings. OH! And I’d love to open a bed and breakfast somewhere. Always been a dream of mine. Perhaps in Bavaria so I can see my German relatives a bit more frequently.

Not that I’ve spent an excessive amount of time thinking about the answer to this question or anything, LOL!!

What great ideas, Charlotte! I love your use of your lottery winnings. Thanks for visiting.

  4. Congrats on the awards and kudos to you for making something of it! I wish I was the Mockingjay. She has skills, she is beautiful, she has an incredible sense of integrity plus she simply rocks! I want to be her. (What a great idea to have us answer on of the questions!)

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

I thought about Katniss, too! She kicks ass, but so does the Dowager, albeit in a different way. Love that old woman.

  5. Congrats! Insipring, you are. This award, you deserve. Yoda, I am channelling.

I sometimes wish I could control time too, but if I had to have any superpower it would be super strength. Probably on The Hulk’s level. I find the idea of slamming the ground with my fist & causing an entire city th shake appealing for some reason.

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

The Hulk has a great power. I just watched The Avengers again with Monkey, Princess Daisy, and Sean. The best scene in the movie is the Hulk actually.

  6. I am honored. And really touched. Thank you, thank you!
I’m just coming off of doing an intense round of revisions, so I have really neglected my blog and all blog reading. It’s shameful, but necessary. I could not keep up with everything. Anyway, it’s SO lovely to see this.
As for what is in my refrigerator…diet coke (like you) always, vegetables, oranges, a very old jar of cherries, pickles and lots of cheese.

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

Heidi, I can’t wait for you to be finished with the book. It’s going to be great, and I look forward to promoting it once published.

  7. Congratulations Kelly! That is quite an honor. Excellent job and thanks for sharing all those other great blogs :)

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

Enjoy the other blogs. I think, in particular, you will like Live Love Work.

  8. Thank you for the awesome honor of naming me as one of your top 7 most inspirational blogs! I am very grateful!

If I won the lottery, no matter the amount, I would give at least 90% of it to various animal rescue organizations. I would start with Best Friends Animal Sanctuary, a no-kill sanctuary that supports animal welfare across the United States. Next I would dole out a portion of my winnings to several local animal rescue organization to support my community.

I don’t need 20 million dollars, or even $2 million, or $2 thousand. While there will always be more things I want, and things I want to do, I have everything I need today. Sadly, there are many loving pets that don’t even have a home.

    Have a grateful day!

And this response is one of the many reasons you are so inspiring, Chrysta!

  9. CV

Thanks for the 7 – I’ll definitely read (and comment).
The naked girl will always have a special place in my blog-heart.

As for my super power…wait what is this “if” thing? I AM a superhero!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

Of course you are a superhero, CV! *fingers crossed behind back*

  10. Oh the Discovery of Witches sounds interesting! I am in the middle of reading several books, but I am really into The Bloodletter’s Daughter!
    I would travel more too!
And stopping time is a great choice!
Congrats on your very deserved award!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

Thank you, Alex. I recommend Discovery of Witches. It was a great book!

  11. Congratulations! That is an amazing honor!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

Thanks! CV is a great guy and I appreciate the recognition from him.

  12. Wooooohoooo! Congrats!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

      Thank you, Claire!

  13. Ah…such an honor for you :) And then to be delighted to be honored BY you! Thank you!

As for my answer to one of the questions above, I must answer the book question because of my librarian status: The last book I read was Silhouetted by the Blue by Traci Jones. It’s nominated for Missouri’s Truman Award for Middle Grade Readers.

And now I’m off to share my news and honor some inspirational people of my own!

    1. Naked Girl in a Dress

I read your post this morning, Kimberly. Thank you for the kind words! You truly are an inspiration.
