Last week a reader commented on a post I wrote five months ago. It was a piece about celebrating the progress I had made in the divorce process. The reader left a supportive comment, letting me know I would get through this time in my life. She also said:

“…coping and surviving a divorce is an accomplishment.”

This reader’s comment to an older post was the impetus for me to look back and reflect on my progress, both in the divorce and in my life. So much has changed and all for the better.

I have completed divorce negotiations and have an agreement; my children are thriving with two parents who divorced amicably; I have the love and support of a really great group of friends; I am in a better financial position; photography school is going well; my writing is gaining more recognition; and I am in negotiations for a possible business partnership in the new year.

With 2010 coming to a close in a few weeks, I am happy with where my life is right now. There have been some high and low points, but that is part of life.

“Life isn’t about how to survive the storm but how to dance in the rain” — Unknown

I am hoping for fewer storms in 2012, but know that I have learned to dance in the rain. And I am better for it.
