Puppy-sized elephant: the perfect pet.
Last week I asked readers to help me. My children want a dog and I was trying to convince them a llama would be a better pet. My fabulous readers came to my rescue: some supporting the dog idea and others encouraging me to get a llama. I even received numerous suggestions for other pets. It was the typical list of pet ideas: hedgehogs and elephants to name a few.
Last night a reader, @BrerMatt, tweeted a video link to me with the ultimate pet: a puppy-sized elephant. I realized, after watching the video, that I must live under a rock because I have never heard of the Vlog Brothers. But apparently the rest of the world knows about John and Hank Green. And puppy-sized elephants are all over the internet because of their video.
While spewing on about puppy-sized elephants, John (one of the two Vlog Brothers) somehow works in The Brothers Karamazov, a personal request to Evolution, rainbows, Photoshop, insular dwarfism, and Helen Hunt. I had to share the video.

John and Hank are hard to describe. You just have to watch a few videos to get an idea of their type of crazy. It’s a bit like The Bloggess, but without profanity and zombies. Just pure crazy. And funny.
Oh, and to let you know, we have settled on the idea of a dog. I lost the llama battle. Thanks for your help with this big decision.

I’ve been threatening my parents that I’m going to buy THEM a dog for Christmas. I am totally getting them a puppy sized elephant instead.

So Why not a puppy sized llama?? Or my wife’s favorite, that puppy sized giraffe from the Direct TV ad. She wants me to get her one for Christmas. Tough assignment as apparently the teeninsy giraffe is a thing of opulence, and I don’t even have a job.
If there was a puppy-sized llama too then I would get one of each. That would be perfect!
So do puppy-sized elephants have tusks? Cause I don’t know man, that could be a little dangerous. Adorably dangerous…but dangerous none the less.

Thanks for pointing out the issue regarding tusks. I had not thought of that. One reader just left a comment about puppy-sized llamas. That might work better. Of course, the little llamas would probably still spit a lot.
