It has been a busy week finishing up final projects for school, but that doesn’t mean I have not been able to play and have some fun. Other than the sense of accomplishment with school, here’s what stood out as highlights this week:
Torturing my Ex-Husband
It’s a long story how I ended up with my ex-husband’s car, but I have it for two weeks. It’s his baby. He knows I love, more than any other driving experience, to drive a sports car with stick fast. This is what has him worried. Well, that fact and the texts I have been sending him.
“Enjoying speed. Tomorrow’s goal is 6th gear.”
“I am an over-achiever. Got her in 6th gear a day ahead of schedule. Won’t tell you how many times.”
“Next up is reprogramming all the radio stations.”
“Near miss with grocery cart in parking lot. Other than that, all is good with the Mini.”
“Maybe I hit 100 mph.”
“Will cut you a check for speed camera tickets when you are back.”
I am not so terrible though. The car is still in great condition and I am thoroughly cleaning it. He probably won’t agree, but I am going to try to negotiate joint visitation with the car. After this week of texts, I doubt he will agree.
As for his responses, this was my favorite:
“TAKE CARE OF MY CAR!”
Minor League Baseball
The kids and I drove to see the Hagerstown Suns minor league team play on Wednesday. The reason for us to drive such a distance for baseball was to see Strasburg pitch. He has been assigned to this team as part of his rehab. It was a great night for the three of us.
Major League Baseball
Last night I went to the Nationals game against the Reds. The weather cooled and there was a nice breeze; we had great seats; and my companion last night is entertaining, funny, and enjoys baseball as much as I do. It was an exciting game and a perfect evening.
It seems perfect to share a walk-up song for one of the Nationals players as Song of the Week this week. Most of the players choose rap and heavy metal. Morse, however, stands out with “Take on Me” by A-Ha. It was played as he walked up last night and I just had to laugh. It is a song I remember from high school and is not in the same music genre as the rest of the team has chosen. There has to be an interesting story behind why he would chose this song. I was able to find the video, which I remember watching on M-TV (back when they played music videos!).
Enjoy!
Happy Friday!

Torturing him like that is just mean. Excellent! I normally take the guy’s side in matters such as these but a good torturing is a good torturing.
Just s long as I’m not on the receiving end, that is.
The funny thing about it is that we are great friends. People think it is weird that we get along, but that is just the way it worked out. So it wasn’t to get back at my ex, but rather just tease the hell out of him all week.

I’ll never get tired of that song, or driving fast sports cars either.
He must be an uber nice guy’ there is no way I hades I’d let my ex drive my truck.
We have a great relationship so that is why I was given the keys. I don’t think a typical ex would do this!
Great post! It’s nice that you can “torture” your ex and it’s all in good fun.
I’m a big Red Sox fan, but Mike Morse has won me over with his at-bat song. “Take On Me” holds a special place on the mix CD of my life. I was 5 or 6 when that song/video was big, and it was my introduction to music…back when mTV exposed kids to music instead of douchebags and STDs.
Anyway. I like Strasburg but Bryce Harper seems like an immature punk. Glad you didn’t drive out of your way to see him.
Haven’t seen a game at Nationals Stadium. When I was in DC earlier this year, they were home (and the Phillies were even there!), but a buddy of mine got tickets to the Caps/Rangers playoff game, so that was the thing we went to.
I saw Strasburg pitch in Syracuse last summer before he got called up. Pretty impressive. I know you’re into photography, so here’s a couple of photos I took of him up there:

Those are two great Strasburg shots! You will have to come back to visit Nats stadium. It is beautiful and, well, the team is awesome too.
