This morning I realized the two month anniversary of going public with Naked Girl in a Dress was this week. The one month anniversary was big. Really big. The party was fun, the huge increase in traffic was great, and I loved having Darren Rowse visit my site.
This morning I thought about what I have accomplished in month two of this writing adventure. I am pleased with the effort I have made and the results achieved.
A few highlights from the second month:
1. Last week I was approached by a larger blogger to be a monthly contributing writer on her blog.
2. This week I was accepted for a writing position I applied for with a large blog magazine.
3. My Twitter followers are almost at 600 after 8 weeks of tweeting.
4. I have met and been inspired by countless talented bloggers.
5. My readership has increased significantly. But, most important to me, these readers are all wonderful people whom I am glad to have met through my blog (except for the ONE crazy-trying to erase that from my mind).
6. I almost have enough ad revenue to reload my Starbucks card.
In addition to the progress on the blog, I have made progress in my life. Two weeks ago I wrote about feeling hopeless. I hit a low point in the divorce process and everything in life felt so overwhelming. I worked diligently all summer, with mediation every 14 days, and do not even have a draft agreement to show for the effort.
With each passing day from that low point, I feel more hopeful. Great things happening for my blog, supportive readers leaving words of encouragement, friends reassuring me, and these new writing opportunities have a lot to do with feeling better. Stepping out of my comfort level and facing a fear helped too.
And, it’s a beautiful day. In the DC area we are enjoying blue skies, low humidity, and cooler temperatures.
I shared a lot about myself this week. One thing my readers learned is my 25+ year infatuation with Bono. It seemed fitting to share a U2 song for the Song of the Week.
“It’s a beautiful day. Don’t let it get away.”
Enjoy your weekend.
Happy Friday!

I was wondering when this would make “song of the week”
ha ha!
have a great weekend!
This is such a great song. I needed this today.
Happy anniversary on your blog. I’m glad you’ve found some joy through the experience. I hope it continues to feed your soul.
What wonderful accomplishments – big congrats!! Keep plugging along and things will fall into place. I’m happy for you!
I hope my effort will continue to build into a great writing career for myself. Thanks for the encouragement.
I LOVE BONO too! And U2 of course! Huge part of my “growing up years,” how silly does that sound? Best concerts ever. Anyways. I love blogging too. It’s great.

Thanks for stopping by Kristy!
This is a great site. Not because it is a good story or even good entertainment, but because it is a clear portal into a wonderful soul. You balance both the challenges and victories of your life with a good natured view that everyone can identify with, and those of us more mired in challenges can aspire to. Thank you.
Pete~
What a wonderful comment! Thank you for sharing your thoughts about my blog. I never tire hearing my words are helping others through a difficult time.
Hang in there!
So glad things are going so well for you, as far as the blog goes. I hope it continues to keep picking up for you!
Hi – my first time here – I love this blog!
Really like how open and honest you are, and yes I like Bono, though apparently not as much as you. Love Cher tho (ha ha Cher, Sonny, Bono, so funny, at least I entertain myself)…
Thanks for finding me on Studio 30 Plus. Am gonna stalk, er, “follow” you now!
Brahm,
Thanks for the kind words about my blog. I appreciate a fellow Bono fan following me here and at Studio30 Plus.
Wow! What an accomplishment. I’ve been at it for a year and a half and haven’t done as much. Keep up the good work
Thank you so much Jen! I wish you much success as well.
Congratulations on your accomplishments!
I will say that the whole mediation process can be very draining and stressful. I have recently reached an agreement with my ex-to-be and I felt such a sense of relief once the clerk stamped the papers! Hang in there. It takes a lot of time and patience, but it does work.
Following you from Relax and Surf Sundays.
Congratulations on the finality you have reached! I wish I could fast-forward and be where you are right now. Still taking it one step at a time though.
Love this song. Every time I hear it I get pumped up- it always elevates my mood!
What a great post! I’m glad you are having a great experience in the blog world. It’s crazy how people you have never “met” can become your greatest support system.
