Running on the National Mall one cold morning in December, The Boyfriend asked me what I wanted for Christmas. The conversation went something like this:

The Boyfriend (TB): What do you want for Christmas Kelly?

Me: Wow, that’s a tough question. I can’t think of anything I really want. I am grateful for all that I have and am happy with my life.

TB: You are really tough to buy for.

Me: I don’t think so.

TB: But you can’t tell me anything you want.

Me: I want a drying rack!

TB: What?

Me: You know. A rack to put clothes that can’t go in the dryer. Mine is broken.

TB: I am not getting you a drying rack.

Me: But I really need a drying rack.

TB: You are impossible to buy for.

What The Boyfriend proved this Christmas is that while I might be difficult to buy for, he is a very thoughtful gift-giver. Curled up next to him on the sofa, I laughed and squealed as I opened my gifts. Practical, funny, and unexpected are good ways to describe the gifts. Each one was perfect for me in a different way.

The squeal was over the unexpected gift.

The Boyfriend gave me tickets to see Coldplay with him this July.

He knows how much I love Coldplay.

The Boyfriend is awesome.

So for Song of the Week this week, clearly I have to share a Coldplay song. Here’s “Every Teardrop is a Waterfall.”
