“Do you expect to find someone who will be in precisely the same place emotionally as you throughout the relationship?”
Pushing him away, trying to slow him down with the relationship seemed ridiculous once he asked the question. I can’t control what another feels or how soon he arrives at the emotion.
I didn’t want to feel pressure. There would certainly be an impatience for me to catch up, and be in this place with him.
“I will wait for you, I will not push, and I will be patient.”
Would he really wait?
Yes, he would.
And he did.
This is in response to the 100 Word Song writing prompt my friend Lance Burson hosts on his blog each week. It was a particularly special week for me because Lance allowed me to choose the song. Thanks, Lance, for giving me the fun assignment of song choice for the week.

I’ve seen Mumford and Sons stuff shared a few times lately and I’m curious. I’ve not listened to their music much, but will have to check out more of it now. Thanks for sharing!
Oh, I hope you enjoy Mumford & Sons. I am slightly obsessed with them.
I love happy endings :-)
Me too, K. I hope it stays this way…forever. It feels really good and right between us.
that’s when you know it’s the real deal. When one half of the couple is willing to wait for the other to reach the same point
I feel like you are right, Carrie. He has been unwavering about his feelings and confidence in us (and me catching up to him). It’s been great.
Great response to this prompt, Kelly. And I’m so very happy you are in such a wonderful place in life and in your relationship. It sounds as though you have developed some beautiful communication, which is immensely important for a healthy bond :) XOXO and hope you had a great weekend!
Doesn’t it seem like just yesterday I was so unhappy, believing the single mom dating thing would never work? It still might not, but I can’t imagine it. Everything works with him so easily and effortlessly–including time with the kids. I haven’t had that yet, but realize how much I wanted it to work that way: love life and family life comes together.
Thanks for the encouragement.
I was going to say, “Don’t you just love stories with a happy ending?” but then I saw that k~ had already beaten me to the punch. So now, I’ve absolutely nothing to add here…
Thanks for adding nothing t. Just happy you stopped by to read.
