I am married & hope to stay that way, so no advice there (touch wood), but I am the product of divorced parents. My mom single handedly raised me, and always made sure her feelings about my father at that time didn’t affect how I saw him & loved him. I really admire her for that. Happy to say that 34 years later, they are solid friends, which makes life much easier when we vist with their grand daughter.

It is such a wonderful thing to be able to set issues aside for the children. I am so happy you had a good experience growing up and that their granddaughter is also reaping the rewards of their post-divorce relationship work.

I find your writing truly inspirational. You are a perfect example of how to handle difficult life circumstances.

I also have two awards for you on my blog…sorry if you really hate awards!

my main advice would be around trying to retain a sense of dignity in the face of what can be truly awful times, a sense of humour helps too, and keeping the lines of communication as open as they can be in the circumstances. If children are involved I think its key at the outset to have a conversation that says ‘no matter how much we might come to fight or argue.. they didnt ask to be in the middle of this and we have to rise above it for their sake, always no matter what they have to come first’ and never ever utter a negative word about the partner in their company. Thats worked for me and my ex husband and bizarrely now we get on better divorced than we ever did married

Yeah, I get it. Good for you. I’m not there. Completely understand and respect your place in life, though. I truly wish you the best. Looks like you have found “it”.
